1. Are your archery backstops a safety backdrop or a target?

They are a safety archery backdrops made to catch errant shots without letting them hit the ground.

2. What kind of arrow and tips can be stopped by your backstop?

All kinds of arrows and any non-blade practice field tip. Our heavy-duty backstop has been tested to 363 fps. The arrow will go through the backstop about half way, so be sure to hang the backstop at least the length of your arrow away from any walls, fences, etc. The Diameter of the practice tip should be no greater than that of the arrow. The archery backstops are designed to stop just about every kind of bow made, however, the crossbow is stronger than a regular bow, so customers would have to special order a backstop to use with a crossbow.

3. How long does it take to ship?

All standard orders should ship within 3 business days.  They are shipped ups ground.

4. How will it stand up to the weather?

Officially we ask that you store it indoors.  We are currently testing them outside and it appears as though they should hold up well outdoors.  The best we can tell is that they will likely fade and eventually get ugly but should perform well.   When wet they may not stop arrows.  Water generally runs though them but they should be allowed to dry for 12 hours or so.

5. How long will they last?

Judging by the testing we have done on these we have found that it is simply a matter of  how many times you hit them.  If you see more than 10 to 15 holes in a certain 1 square foot area or you have an arrow go in up to the fledging you should rotate the way you have it hanging.  If you get to a point where the whole thing is covered with holes you can fold it in half and you should be good again for a long time.

6. Can I have archery backstops made to my own size specifications?

Yes typically these can be made for $7 per square foot plus shipping.   In many cases you may be money ahead to order multiple stock sizes and piece them together to make your layout.  This is because shipping costs get higher when you get beyond our stock sizes.

7. What are the archery backstops made of?

They are made of multi-layered recycled plastic fibers positioned in such a way that they stop the arrows energy much like a bullet proof vest.  This is covered with industrial felt with fabric web loops around the perimeter.

8. How much do the archery backstops weigh?

They weigh approximately 1 1/2 pounds per square ft.

A quality backstop is about the same cost as the smallest roll of archery netting, and while it may not cover the space, it wills top many more arrows.

I’ve put a few holes in walls with arrows… Get some “spackling compound” at thehardware store; it’s sort of like pre-mixed plaster. Nice thing about it, it doesn’t shrink much as it dries. Remove the loose pieces of wallboard and /or plaster and paint from around the hole; it usually helps to sand the area around the hole, as well. Apply the spackle so it not only fills the hole, but sticks out from the wall a little bit; make sure you spread it out past the hole, so it gets complete coverage. Once the spackle dries, sand it so the repair is even with the surface of the wall and paint over it (you will probably have to paint the entire wall to hide the repair).

Next time, either shoot into something that will stop the arrow, but the arrow won’t go all the way through — or find an archery range to do your shooting at. I suggest the archery range.

Its usually pretty funny when someone sticks an arrow where it is not supposed to go, but sometimes things can real wrong.  When you hit people, or pets (except cats.  its ok to shoot cats) things can get owly fast.  I remember having bb gun fights with my brother and all was well until the tears rolled and mom found out.  Be careful and safe and enjoy the summer.
